Queen Anne Neighborhood Meeting Tonight 2/15
Full Description:
Please attend our second neighborhood meeting to organize opposition to the
proposed QFC development
on the site of the Metropolitan Market.
The meeting will take place this Thursday 2/16 at 7 pm at the Queen Anne
Community Center (1901 First Ave. West). No matter how much (or little) time you have to devote to this cause, please join us. We can have a substantial and lasting impact on how our neighborhood is developed, but only if we have the support and involvement of community members just like you. Help us Save Queen Anne!
Since the last QA Community Council meeting where the Cox family presented their
initial design concepts, QANRG has been in a semi-quiet period as we have engaged in
conversations with various parties about how best to approach this fight. We now have initial plans developed for a multi-pronged approach involving:
1) Negotiations with the Cox family directly
2) The participation of three members of the City Council
3) The legal representation of one of the finest land use attorneys in the city
4) Marketing to generate awareness and popular support for our opposition
Queen Anne Neighbors for Responsible Growth will report on progress made to date
on several of these critical initiatives, as well as to lead a discussion about our next steps.
Please spread the word about our meeting on Thursday night.
If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to make a contribution to
sustain our effort. We urgently need funds to pay for yard signs, to cover legal expenses, and to prepare advertising and promotion materials. Please make your check payable to QANRG and mail it today. Your check for $25, $50, even $100 or more will make a huge difference in this battle.
Thanks everyone for your good work. Keep it up! We have a long, tough road
ahead of us. We will prevail as we unite together and boldly make our case with our neighbors, city officials, and the Cox family.
