The Queen Anne Movie Guild will show The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil this Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 7:00 pm at Queen Anne Manor, 100 Crockett St. Tasty refreshments will be available, and there will also be a post-film discussion. The Power of Community, produced by Faith Morgan, Pat Murphy, and Megan Quinn, is a must-see documentary film that offers an intriguing look at the collective mobilization of an entire society to meet an enormous challenge: an energy/food famine, caused by the collapse of the former Soviet Union in 1990. SEVENTH CHURCH OF CHRIST SCIENTIST BUILDING We have no new information about the plans for the Seventh Church of Christ Scientist building on 8th Ave. West and W. Halladay. As most of you probably know, a land use action sign was recently posted that states an intention to demolish the church. However, we do know that many people wrote letters to the DPD to express their concern about the fate of this historically and architecturally significant building.
